A chance for your voice to be heard… today the Pearl District Neighborhood Association (PDNA) reprinted a story on their blog by the Portland Mercury entitled The Burnside Couch Couplet Controversy. This is significant because the PDNA endorsed the Burnside Couch Couplet a few years back when it was close to a $120 million dollar “Disneyland” version which included a streetcar, a plaza, bike amenities, wider sidewalks, bioswales etc….  PDNA has not reversed or reconsidered its endorsement since the recent surfacing of a ”reduced scope plan” which has no streetcar (“for at least 8-10 years”), let alone wider sidewalks or any other pedestrian amenities in the plan that City Council and PDNA endorsed a few years ago. We applaud the PDNA for posting this blog to give a voice to those who see the reduced scope couplet plan as a traffic travesty. Up until now, it has been difficult to be heard by PDNA and we feel it is imperative to take advantage of this golden opportunity to let PDNA know why you oppose the couplet.  If you want to take advantage of another opportunity as well, click here to post a comment on the Portland Mercury’s original article as well.   Thank you!  Your comments will make a difference.
